Stimulating Collagen the Safe and Natural Way

We all know the benefits of collagen:

  • rejuvenating the skin by improving elasticity
  • providing your body with strength, structure, and support
  • replacing dead skin cells with new skin cells

So what does all this have to do with shaping sessions at MidMo Cryo?

Safe and Effective

In an earlier post, Results Are in: Neveskin Shaping Is Safe and Effective, we told you about a three-year clinical study commissioned by Artemis, the organization that brought you Neveskin. This is the remarkable cold and hot technology we use at the MidMo Cryo Spa to shape, and tone away those inches.

The study found Neveskin to be incredibly safe and exceptionally effective. This study indicated the Shape protocol would not lead to serious adverse effects seen with other cold temperature devices. Use this link to learn more about the study: Results Are in: Neveskin Shaping Is Safe and Effective.

The study has shed new light on the mechanism behind the effectiveness of the Neveskin protocols. The Artemis Chief Medical Advisor has reviewed these findings and has formed a working clinical hypothesis: the effectiveness of Neveskin is due to a collagen building process known as neocollagenesis

Neo-What?!

Neocollagenesis is the stimulation of new collagen production within the layer of the skin called the dermis. This process is a natural component of the body’s wound-healing mechanism.

Collagen is a vital protein, which is a key factor in the skin’s ability to become more elastic. It directly affects the laxity and aging of the skin.

Collagen production aids in strengthening the space between skin cells, which creates a “collagen corset” that aids in improving overall skin health, firmness, and toning.

In younger skin, a matrix of collagen forms a “scaffolding” for the skin.

As aging occurs, collagen breaks down causing a “dead space” that loosens the skin.

The Effects Of Aging

As aging occurs, the breakdown of collagen causes a “dead space” between the layers of the skin.  The skin becomes looser, which leads to a saggy appearance.

Clinical evidence shows that production of new collagen starts to slow in our late 20s to early 30s. Gradually we start to lose a minimum of 1% of our collagen each year.

Once new collagen is formed, it has a lifespan of 6 years. However, this doesn’t stop the effects of time (such as reabsorption caused by age, genetic predisposition, lifestyle, etc.) and therefore ongoing collagen maintenance is recommended.

Why Is Collagen So Important?

Collagen is a vital protein in the body and a key factor in the skin’s ability to become more elastic. It directly affects the laxity and aging of the skin. When collagen bands are strong between the skin layers, it prevents “dead space” that can lead to excess circumference or a rounder appearance.

By stimulating collagen production, our treatments safely tighten up skin, giving it a youthful appearance. You look younger without invasive and potentially harmful treatments like “fat burning.”
